# SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAM

The **School Health Program** is a community-focused initiative of **Axom Gramodyog Vikash Council** designed to promote health awareness, preventive care, early identification of common health concerns, and healthy lifestyle practices among school-going children.

The program aims to bring basic health education and screening closer to students while supporting schools, teachers and parents in creating a healthier learning environment.

## 🎯 OBJECTIVES

* Promote health awareness among students
* Encourage healthy lifestyle and hygiene practices
* Support early identification of common health concerns
* Create awareness about nutrition and physical activity
* Promote mental and emotional well-being
* Educate students about personal hygiene and sanitation
* Develop basic emergency and first-aid awareness
* Encourage regular health check-ups
* Build stronger cooperation between schools, parents and healthcare professionals

# 🩺 KEY PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

### 1. BASIC HEALTH SCREENING

Subject to availability and appropriate professional supervision:

* General health assessment
* Height and weight monitoring
* Basic nutritional assessment
* Blood pressure screening where appropriate
* Vision screening
* Basic dental-health screening
* Identification of students who may require further medical evaluation

### 2. HEALTH & HYGIENE EDUCATION

Interactive awareness sessions on:

* Personal hygiene
* Hand washing
* Oral hygiene
* Menstrual hygiene education
* Clean drinking water
* Sanitation
* Healthy daily routines
* Prevention of common infections

### 3. NUTRITION & HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Students can learn about:

* Balanced nutrition
* Healthy food choices
* Importance of breakfast
* Hydration
* Physical activity
* Adequate sleep
* Avoiding harmful habits

### 4. MENTAL & EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

Age-appropriate awareness sessions covering:

* Stress management
* Healthy communication
* Self-confidence
* Emotional well-being
* Positive peer relationships
* Recognising when to seek help from trusted adults or professionals

### 5. FIRST AID & EMERGENCY AWARENESS

Basic educational sessions on:

* First-aid awareness
* Minor cuts and injuries
* Burns
* Fainting
* Choking awareness
* Emergency response
* When and how to seek professional medical help

Practical CPR/first-aid instruction, where offered, should be conducted by appropriately qualified trainers using suitable training equipment.

# 🏫 SCHOOL HEALTH CAMP

A school may organise a dedicated **School Health Camp** involving:

**Health Awareness → Screening → Professional Consultation/Referral → Parent Guidance → Follow-up**

Students requiring further assessment can be appropriately referred to qualified healthcare professionals or healthcare facilities.

The program can also include dedicated sessions for teachers and parents covering:

* Recognising common health concerns
* Basic emergency preparedness
* Healthy nutrition
